I'm Back!

Here I am again after a whirlwhind of a few weeks. Thank you to those people who were concerned about me and checked up on me. I just haven't been online a lot and I'm sorry I didn't see your messages, but it truly touched my heart to see you were thinking of me.

We had our second meeting with the home study agency in their offices and will have our social worker visit on September 15. I am kind of nervous, but I am hopeful all will go okay. Any tips sure would be appreciated if anyone has time! Then we will just be waiting for the I-797 from USCIS and we will have all that we need...well, except the photos.

I'm back to school and so far, my classes seem pretty nice. I am busy and tired, but I'm happy, too, and that's what counts! Off I go to do my schoolwork! All the best to all...

I am...tagged!

I've been tagged (my first tag!) by: Nicole .

Here I go:

I am... creative, emotional, and hopeful.
I want... to finally bring home our daughter from China.
I wish... summer would last longer and I didn't have to be a teacher again for a few extra months.
I hate...cruelty to animals
I miss... my sister since she moved away.
I hear... the sound of the ceiling fan and the clicking of computer keys.
I wonder... how long it will take us to be DTC.
I regret...not starting the adoption process a few years ago.
I am not... athletic!
I dance... very rarely. When I do, I mostly dance slow dances.
I sing... all of the time...to anyone who will listen.
I cry... easily- even at old episodes of "Little House on the Prairie."
I am not always... quiet. I talk A LOT.
I make... a really good appetizer called sausage cups.
I confuse... myself when I attempt mathematical things.
I need…to be creative...am always doing little projects for my home or the classroom.
I should... exercise more and eat healthier foods.
I start... to exercise for a few days and then I quit.
I finish... anything that is my responsibility.

Now, I tag: Crystal and Kristen if they haven't already done this!

Color Outside the Lines

Window Shopping

This is the Color Her Beautiful Asian doll. You can color her outfit with washable markers and then throw her in the washing machine and start all over again! I wish I had one of these when I was growing up!

We're No Criminals

We just got our Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Checks in the mail. Hooray! I am happy to report we have no record. :) They were signed and notarized on my hubby's birthday, which is kind of neat.

Slow But Steady Wins the Race

This Friday we will be attending an all day parenting seminar required by our agency as one of the four home study contacts. Then on Saturday we will be going for our fingerprints in Philadelphia. We also received a beautiful reference letter from my dear friend, Mary. I have my doctor's appt. for her to fill out the forms on August 16 and Ken has his on August 21.

I hope to then call the agency on the 22nd (providing we have our police and child abuse checks back by then) and set up an appointment to take all of our paperwork in for the home study (counting as a second contact). They said they need all the paperwork in before the social worker can set up the appointemnt to come to the house. Then that will be the third visit, and the last visit will be when we go in to review our completed home study. The home stuidy agency is two hours away from us, so it takes a little bit of planning! Once the home study is completed, we will have everything we need for the dossier, except for the 171-H of course. We will then be waiting for that to take the dossier to Harrisburg and then onto NYC.

Busy, Busy World

I am not a big flea market shopper, but I do like to search the local Sunday morning flea market in search of children's books. It's important to me that they are hardcover and not worn. This morning I went on my usual search and came across a copy of Richard Scarry's Busy, Busy World. It's in beautiful condition and looks new. I came home and looked it up on Amazon.com to read the reviews. I found out it's out of print and is being sold used by three sellers for over $60 a copy. I paid one dollar! Behold, the power of the flea market.

Happy Birthday, Honey

Happy 39th birthday to my very sweet, darling husband!
We have been together for almost 23 years now,
and he truly is the light of my life.

Anything Bowie is Good

I went to get my bloodwork done today for the medical forms. I was a little...okay, a lot...nervous because bloodwork is just not my favorite thing to do. I have had too many experiences where they "couldn't find the vein" and had to poke and prod repeatedly. Luckily, I had a WONDERFUL phlebotomist today who had me in and out in seconds.

When I got out to the car and turned on the radio, David Bowie's "China Girl" was playing. I always smile at Bowie, but well, I smiled bigger this time.

We received Ken's employment verification letter as well, so two more thinsg down.

  • my bloodwork- check
  • Ken's employment letter- check

    Hooray!

    China Doll

She makes me smile...and she plays music.

    Reality

In my fantasy world, everyone would be as excited and joyful about our adoption as we are.

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break."
